This Assessment was very interesting to complete.
I chose to create a set of products to promote an annual ball and charity ball. I designed the invitation, the auction catalogue and a history booklet.
I have changed slightly from my original idea.
The theme of the ball was Black and White Masquerade. I followed this theme by using a black and white colour scheme and using the mask motif throughout the products.
I wanted to have a simple and elegant theme to the work and also keep it corporate and as easy to use as possible.
I had to think very hard about how to display the images and type together so they looked presentable and aesthetically pleasing.
I used Chopin Script for the headings, Champaign and Limousin's for sub headings and calibre for the body text. I used these fonts as they worked well together and also worked well with the overall theme. I looked at using different types but decided on the ones I used because of the reasons above.
I found it difficult to find a good balance between text and graphics, however after feedback from my teacher I was able to create layouts that used less imagery but still had a great effect. I started to work with negative space and liked the way it turned out.
I learnt a lot from this assessment. I learnt how to look at my work from a different angle and how not be so safe all the time. I also improved with my illustrator techniques by learning how to create realistic looking vectors, however my mask does not look photo realistic but I tried and will continue to work on this new skill. I also learnt a bit more about working with negative space and not going over the top with motifs and themes. I learnt more about how to layout documents in indesign and would like to do more work on this and get better at this skill.
I liked to overall completed product but as with every project can still see things I would like to work on or change, however I am happy with the progress I have made.
