Synaesthesia

This piece of music had a barnyard, shindig feel to it and I pictured farm colours, such as yellow, browns and reds, like the hay and wooden stables. It was also a fast piece of music which made me picture blurred lines and mixed colours.

This song, Somewhere over the Rainbow and What a Wonderful World, gave a happy, calm, peaceful feeling to the painting. The rainbow colours were used as the song talks about rainbows and these are the colours I pictured, they also represent a happy feeling of a wonderful world. This is my favourite.

This piece of music made me picture a sunset at a country field. The colours which I pictured were the green of the grass, the blue sky and the orange, red and yellow of the sunset. The colours were bright and happy.

This piece of music was crazy and slightly scary. The blues and greys were used as I thought of thunder over the ocean at the start of the piece. The edgy, patchy sounds the music made, as well as the think, low sounds at the start of the music and the thin, high sounds at the end inspired the effect of the colour and the brush technique.

The theme of this song was love and marriage, which made me think of pink and red, the colours usually depicted with love. I also had bits of white through the painting which was inspired by the wedding feel of the song.

I used the swirl pattern as love has a floaty free feeling about it. It looks better on paper.

This piece of music was dark and edgy sort of rock and alternate which made me picture dark, gloomy, angry colours such as red, grey, black etc. I don’t like this one.

The dark blue was used as the music had a deep beat to it. The yellow was used as there was also a light note through the music. The colours were also chosen because the music reminded me of royalty and the deep blue and gold came to mind when I though of this.

The yellow, which looks orange, was used because it is a bright, happy colour, like the feel of the music, it was also influenced by the Simpsons as the music was the Simpson’s theme song. The Green and blue were used for much the same reasons, being bright, fun and happy.

The square design was used as the music felt structured.
